Former Turkish PM proposes making Gaza Strip Turkish autonomy

Former Turkish Prime Minister and opposition figure Ahmet Davutoglu has proposed giving the Gaza Strip the status of Turkish autonomy, Report informs via RIA Novosti.
He noted that the decision should be made by Gaza residents through a referendum.
"Türkiye, as the legitimate successor of the Ottoman Empire, should treat the residents of the Gaza Strip as historical companions and fellow citizens. Let the residents of the Gaza Strip hold a referendum and join Türkiye as an autonomous region until a Palestinian state is established. The decision lies with the residents of Gaza," Davutoglu said, speaking in parliament.
