Erdogan: Türkiye to become global actor in natural gas, oil exploration

Türkiye will become a global actor in natural gas and oil exploration, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the Istanbul Natural Resources Summit, Report informs.

"We will transform Türkiye into a global actor in the field of natural gas and oil exploration. In the new era, our country will establish new partnerships in the mining industry and energy sectors all over the world and contribute to global energy security," said the Turkish President.

He added that daily oil production at Mount Gabar, located in the Sirnak province, has exceeded 81,000 barrels:

"To date, more than 26 million barrels of oil with a total value of $2 billion have been produced in Gabar. New roads with a length of 540 kilometers have been built for these activities."

Erdogan also emphasized that Türkiye will achieve the target of 100,000 barrels of daily oil production set for Gabar in a short time:

"Along with the work in Gabar, our daily oil production has broken a new record by exceeding 135,000 barrels from the end of March 2025."
