Elderly man mauled by bear undergoes 6-hour surgery in Bashkortostan

A 70-year-old resident of Bashkortostan who was hospitalized after a bear attack has undergone surgery, though his condition remains critical, Report informs via Russian media.
Ayrat Rakhmatullin, the regional Minister of Health, said the surgery lasted over six hours, and the man was placed on mechanical ventilation. He sustained multiple fractures and deep lacerations.
"Doctors are continuing to fight for his life," the health minister said.
The incident occurred near the village of Sharipovo in the Abzelilovsky district, when the predator attacked the man while he was in a hunting area.
