Dog walking banned in Tabriz

Authorities in Tabriz, located in Iran's East Azerbaijan province, have officially banned dog walking in the city, Report informs via snn.ir.

The directive was issued by the East Azerbaijan Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office.

Babak Mahboob Alili, the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor of Tabriz, stated that the prohibition aims to uphold public rights and safeguard legitimate interests. The ban applies to parks, public spaces, and vehicles across the city.

He further noted that enforcement measures are in place, and violations of the order will be subject to legal prosecution. "Relevant authorities have been instructed to prevent dog walking in public areas and vehicles," he affirmed.

Mahboob Alili emphasized that numerous public complaints have highlighted concerns over stray dogs and their impact on health and society. "The prosecutor's office fully supports the legal actions of responsible bodies, and any inaction on this matter will be reviewed," he added.

Similar bans were imposed last month in Iran’s Isfahan and West Azerbaijan provinces, including the central city of Urmia.
