Iranian authorities have closed around ten businesses in Maragheh city, East Azerbaijan Province, for not adhering to mandatory hijab rules, said Ahmad Farsi, Chief of Maragheh City Police Department, Report informs via Azad Iran.
Farsi mentioned that 145 additional businesses have been issued warnings. He also stated that seven businesses, including cafes, restaurants, and wedding halls, were closed for violating hijab rules and not following Islamic regulations.
Furthermore, 21 restaurants and cafes were also shut down for the same reasons in the city of Alborz, Qazvin Province.
From September 2022 until the end of 2023, there were protests in Iran against the mandatory hijab rules enforced by Tehran authorities. Since spring 2024, enforcement of these rules has been intensified.
