Armenian ethnographer: ‘2.9 million people remained in the country’

“There should have been 5.5 million people in Armenia, but according to the census and current registration, 2.9 million people remained in the country,” Artashes Boyajian, an Armenian ethnographer and candidate of historical sciences, told Sputnik Armenia, Report informs.

According to him, although the population of Armenia is officially stated at 2.9 million people, in reality, it is less than that.

Boyajian noted that the resettlement of citizens of other countries of different nationalities to Armenia also creates problems: “This leads to a change in the demographic picture.”

According to him, the number of people moving from Iran, China, and India to different regions of the country, including the Shorayel region, is increasing every year.
