Airlines flying to or from Russia may experience new difficulties in organizing flights due to the shutdown of the channels of the Swiss company Societe Internationale de Telecommunication Aeronautiqes (SITA) in September this year, Report informs referring to RBC.
The SITA channel is ‘aviation SWIFT’ - the traditional and most common tool in the world of civil aviation for data exchange, for example, between airlines and airports.
After disconnecting from SITA, Russian airlines will no longer be able to transmit information about flights, passengers and baggage through the gateways of the Swiss company to the information systems of international airports.
The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation said that for international transportation it is necessary to ensure the exchange of data between the Russian and international networks and organize alternative communication channels.
