UNECE ready to consider Azerbaijan's participation in technical cooperation program

The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) is ready to engage with Azerbaijan within its regular technical cooperation program, Tiina Luige, director of the UN Statistical Division, told Report on the sidelines of the third CIS International Statistical Forum, currently underway in Baku.

Tiina Luige emphasized that the UNECE is working closely with all CIS countries on statistical capacity development.

"Regarding specific projects, their implementation depends on the availability of financial resources. Currently, we do not have a separate project for Azerbaijan, but we do have a general regular technical cooperation program. Under this program, countries can apply for assistance and support in strengthening their statistical capacity. We would be happy to consider Azerbaijan's participation in this program, both in the field of statistics and in other areas. In general, we are implementing various projects aimed at developing and strengthening this capacity," she said.

Tiina Luige also noted that Azerbaijan's experience in using data from its national statistical system for national development can serve as an example for other countries.
