During the war, Ukraine cannot join NATO. However, now the Office of the President is working on the relevant documents, according to which Canada will be able to provide security guarantees to Ukraine, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at a press conference in Kyiv on Saturday, Report informs.
"We understand that today, during the war, Ukraine cannot become a member of NATO, this is contrary to the Alliance, but we need help," the head of state said.
Zelenskyy thanked for the guarantees with which Ukraine is already provided, but stressed that on the path to NATO, the country needs legal security guarantees.
"They were prepared by our side and we are talking with partners. Canada also has one of the main roles here. We want Canada to be one of the guarantors. We talked with Justin Trudeau about this, now our advisers are talking, working on a relevant document," the Ukrainian president stressed.
