US national security advisor Waltz says held phone call with Russian counterpart

US national security advisor Mike Waltz said he held a telephone call with his Russian counterpart, adding that he will talk with Ukrainian officials soon as well, Report informs via TASS.

"Shuttle diplomacy is difficult, it’s tough, but we are going back and forth at every level driving both sides to a ceasefire, driving both sides towards the end of this war," Waltz told reporters referring to Washington’s efforts to foster dialogue with Moscow and Kyiv.

He said that he had not discussed Western military assistance to Ukraine and declined to say whether Russia could be trusted to negotiate a ceasefire.
