The US Marine Corps unit 2nd Marine Logistics Group arrived in Finland for two months for the joint exercise Freezing Winds 22, Report informs via TASS.
Nearly 150 soldiers are stationed in the city of Dragsvik (Uusima region) for training at local training grounds. The main part of the American military personnel is expected in October, according to a press release from the Finnish Navy.
Previous similar exercises were held in May and August, when the US Navy's aircraft-carrying assault ship Kearsarge arrived in Helsinki.
In early July, Foreign Ministers of Finland and Sweden, Pekka Haavisto and Ann Linde, as well as ambassadors from 30 member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance, signed protocols on the NATO accession of these two states during an official ceremony at the bloc's headquarters. Helsinki and Stockholm will join NATO after the documents are ratified by all countries of the alliance.
