US imposes export restrictions against over 90 organizations & individuals associated with Russia

Due to the situation around Ukraine, the US Department of Commerce introduces a tougher export control regime for 91 organizations and individuals associated with Russia, Report informs citing TASS.

A notice of this was received on March 3 evening in the electronic database of the Federal Register - a collection of documents from the US government.

The US government believes that the activities of these entities are contrary to the interests of US foreign policy and national security. They participated in, contributed to, or otherwise supported the Russian security services, military and defense sectors, as well as military and defense research and development, according to the document.

It explains that a total of 91 items have been included in the list of those subject to the tightened export control regime. Most of them - 81 - are registered or based in the Russian Federation. Some of the restricted entities have representative offices in other countries or are registered outside the Russian Federation: in Belize, the UK, Spain, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Malta, Singapore, Slovakia and Estonia.

This regulation includes entities in a number of allied countries, including members of the EU and NATO, but it is not a measure against those countries in which these entities are located or registered, the US authorities explain.
