UN Security Council urges Pakistan and India to avoid military conflicts

The UN Security Council has called on Pakistan and India to avoid military conflicts in favor of negotiations, a source in Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said, Report informs referring to foreign media.

"They called for dialogue and diplomacy to ease tensions and avoid military confrontation, to resolve the issue peacefully," the source noted.

A closed meeting was held at the UN headquarters in New York on May 5 to discuss this issue.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stressed the need to avoid military confrontation between the parties, which, according to him, could easily get out of control.

Currently, Pakistan is a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, while India is not a member, but is negotiating with other members.
