Ukraine sees first case of omicron variant infection

Omicron variant of coronavirus has been detected in Ukraine, Healthcare Minister Vyktor Lyashko said, Report informs referring to TASS.
According to the minister, the virus was brought from the UAE.
“A person who was infected with this strain of coronavirus returned from the United Arab Emirates, where he had contact with COVID patients. The patient continues to be treated,” the minister said, adding that the circle of contact persons of the infected is now being established.
Lyashko urged residents of the country to get vaccinated and avoid traveling to countries where the omicron strain prevails.
