Ukraine receives new €3.47B tranche under support loan program

The European Commission has transferred another €3.47 billion to Ukraine under the defense component of the Ukraine Support Loan program, which has a total volume of €90 billion, Report's European bureau informs, citing the European Commission.

The funding will be used to purchase additional missiles, air defense systems and drones, including long-range drones, as well as Gripen fighter jets.

The new tranche also includes the next stage of financing for the drone procurement program.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the new package would help strengthen the protection of Ukraine's airspace while also deepening cooperation between the EU and Ukrainian defense industries, calling it part of the emerging Drone Deal initiative.

The European Commission said new decisions on funding for the purchase of drones, ammunition, air defense systems and missiles are expected in the coming weeks.

This is the fourth tranche under the Ukraine Support Loan program. On June 25, the European Commission allocated €3.2 billion under the macro-financial assistance program, MFA. On June 30, Ukraine received €3.9 billion under the defense track, followed by another €1.1 billion on July 15.

In total, €28.3 billion is planned to be directed to support Ukraine's defense industry in 2026 under the program.
