Two people killed in light aircraft crash

Two people have died after a light aircraft crashed in North Wales on Friday, Report informs via The Telegraph.

The victims, who have not been named, were found in a remote area near Trawsfynydd, Gwynedd.

They had been flying in an aircraft that had been scheduled to land at Caernarfon airport after leaving from an airfield in England. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash is currently unknown, and investigators from the Air Accidents Investigations Branch (AAIB) have begun inquiries.

A North Wales Police spokesman said: "Shortly after midday, North Wales Police received reports that a light aircraft travelling from an airfield in England had not arrived at Caernarfon airport as scheduled.

"Multi-agency air and ground searches were carried out and the aircraft was found in a remote location near to Trawsfynydd. The two people on board were sadly pronounced deceased at the scene."

Ch Supt Owain Llewellyn said: "Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those involved in this tragic incident. We will support the AAIB with their investigation to ensure the circumstances leading to this incident are fully understood.

"This has been a challenging search operation, and I am grateful to all of the agencies involved for their professionalism and dedication."
