A trilateral meeting between the delegations of Türkiye, Finland and Sweden on the NATO accession of the latter two will take place on March 9 in Brussels, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said at a briefing in Ankara, Report informs.
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced an agreement with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan regarding a meeting of the three on NATO membership in mid-March. Earlier, Cavusoglu reported that Ankara is resuming the tripartite mechanism for the membership of Sweden and Finland in NATO.
“It is good that the meeting will take place in Brussels. Thus, NATO will see the whole process and the fulfillment of obligations by these countries (Sweden and Finland). The third meeting of the standing mechanism with the participation of Sweden and Finland will take place on March 9,” he said.
