Trump, Gabbard fired top CIA Russia expert days after Alaska summit

A senior Russia expert at the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) was stripped of her security clearance following the US-Russia summit in Alaska.

Report informs via The Washington Post that career CIA officer, who had worked there for 29 years, lost her clearance to classified materials on August 19. At that time, according to WP, she had been preparing for an assignment in Europe, where she was to take up a "prestigious post" previously approved by CIA Director John Ratcliffe.

The publication notes that the officer, considered one of the agency"s leading Russia experts, had played an active role in preparing for the August 15 meeting in Alaska between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump. The reasons why she was stripped of access to classified documents are not specified.
