Syria deploys army units along border with Iraq

Syria has deployed army units along the Syrian-Iraqi border, Report informs via Al Arabiya.
The broadcaster said, citing sources, that Syria's Defense Ministry has ordered the army to be placed on maximum combat readiness. The reasons for the decision were not disclosed.
According to Al Arabiya, Damascus notified Baghdad several days ago about activity by Iran-backed armed groups near the Syrian-Iraqi border.
Syrian authorities warned that any attacks carried out from Iraqi territory would be met with retaliatory action, and urged Baghdad to take measures to prevent its territory from being used for operations against Syria.
