Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billstrom, after meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, could not confirm that his country would complete NATO membership in 2023, but said there was progress, Report informs referring to TASS.
“I don’t want to set a specific timeframe. As soon as all the conditions of the tripartite memorandum (on the fulfillment by Sweden and Finland of Turkiye’s package of demands for Ankara’s support for their accession to NATO) are met, we will see how the ratification [of the protocol on accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO] by the Turkish parliament takes place,” the Swedish minister said.
