The ruling Social Democratic Party of Sweden (SDPS) has promised to make a decision soon on the country's accession to NATO, that Aftonbladet newspaper reported on Wednesday.
Report informs referring to TASS that the party leadership announced a special meeting on May 24, at which representatives of 26 party districts will discuss the position of the SDPS.
"It is not yet clear whether a decision will be made, but it is clear that a lot is at stake," a source of the newspaper said.
The question of Sweden's accession to NATO arose after the start of Russia's military operations in Ukraine. Against this background, the party considered that the former position of the Social Democrats with the wording "No to NATO" has lost its relevance.
