Speaker of Lithuanian Seimas: Parliaments of NATO countries see Ukraine among Alliance members

Representatives of the parliaments of the NATO member states, who have gathered in Lithuania, are in favor of Ukraine's entry into the North Atlantic Alliance in the future, Speaker of the Seimas (Parliament) of Lithuania Viktorija Cmilyte-Nielsen said, Report informs via LRT.

She expressed hope that Ukraine will become a NATO member "as soon as possible."

According to Cmilyte-Nielsen, the heads of the parliaments of the Alliance members and Sweden believe that their countries should increase funding for the defense system, as well as accept Ukraine into NATO.

"In fact, there is agreement on the need to increase funding for the defense of countries, and on the issue of Ukraine's membership in NATO, almost all speakers see this country as a member of NATO. We hope this will happen as soon as possible," she said.
