Woman to head police force in Slovakia

For the first time in Slovak history, a woman - Jana Maskarova - has been appointed as the head of police, Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok said at a press conference on January 27, Report informs.
"From today, General Jana Maskarova will be responsible for leading the police force," he said.
Lubomir Solak, who had led the Slovak police since November 2023, resigned after a Slovak high school student's attack on people that resulted in two deaths.
