Joint Arab-Islamic summit kicks off in Riyadh

An extraordinary joint summit of the League of Arab States (LAS) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has got underway in Riyadh.

Report informs that during the summit, the leaders of the Arab League and OIC countries will discuss a number of current issues, including the escalation of the situation in the Middle East.

Saudi Arabia will hold an extraordinary joint summit of the League of Arab States (LAS) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) today in Riyadh, Report informs via TASS.

"Given the exceptional circumstances occurring in the Gaza Strip, and following consultations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, it was decided to hold an extraordinary joint Arab-Islamic summit in Riyadh on Saturday, November 11, 2023," the Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Initially, it was assumed that an emergency meeting of the Arab League Council at the highest level would be held on Saturday in Riyadh, and an extraordinary OIC summit would be held on Sunday.
