Rutte: NATO countries should spend much more than 2% of GDP on defense

NATO countries should significantly increase defense spending, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said, Report informs.
Having recalled that in 2023, allies agreed to invest at least 2% of GDP in defense, Rutte noted that NATO will need much more than 2%.
According to him, it is a mistake to think that strong defense is not needed to maintain peace.
He also added that without strong defense there is no long-term security.
