Russian Embassy: US blocks document that'd ban placement of weapons in space

The United States and its allies are blocking the development of a document designed to prevent the transformation of outer space into an arena of armed confrontation, the Russian Embassy in the United States said, Report informs via TASS.

“We remind you that it is Washington, with the support of its allies, that has been blocking the development of a full-fledged legally binding international document for many years. At the same time, Russia and China have been leading global efforts for many years to prepare comprehensive measures designed to prevent the transformation of space into an arena of armed confrontation and include a ban on the placement of weapons of any kind in outer space,” the embassy said on its Telegram channel.

Previously, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Russia is ready to conduct an equal dialogue with all countries to preserve outer space free of weapons of any kind, but not all states are ready to have a responsible conversation on this issue.
