Death toll in Kyiv rises to 10 after Russian missile strikes-UPDATED

The number of people killed in Kyiv due to Russian military strikes has reached 10, Report informs, citing Ukrainian media and the Kyiv City Military Administration.

Ukraine"s Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, stated that three people had been rescued from under the rubble of a destroyed building.

"Around 500 rescuers and 1,000 police officers are working across Kyiv simultaneously. Police are providing support to the victims. More than 60 investigative teams are currently operating on the ground," he noted.

Svitlana Vodolaha, a representative of Ukraine"s State Emergency Service, said that as many as nine people might still be trapped under the remains of a multi-storey building. "However, it is unclear whether they were in their apartments at the moment of the strike," she added.

According to officials, eight districts of the capital-particularly Darnytskyi and Dnipro districts-have suffered damage. Emergency response operations are ongoing at five locations.

Russia launched another overnight attack on Ukrainian territory on August 28, according to Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko.

Report quotes the minister as saying massive airstrikes on Kyiv resulted in the deaths of four civilians and injuries to more than 20 others.

"Among the dead are two children, and five of the injured are also minors," he said.

Klymenko added that the air assault on the capital lasted for more than nine hours.
