Pope calls on Iran and Israel to act rationally amid mutual airstrikes

Pope Leo called on Iran and Israel to show reason and continue dialogue amid escalating tensions and reciprocal airstrikes, Report informs via Reuters.

While addressing the congregation in St. Peter’s Basilica on June 14, he said he was following the developments "with deep concern."

"At this delicate moment, I strongly appeal for responsibility and reason," the Pope stressed.

He added that the quest for a safer world, free from the threat of nuclear conflict, must be based on respectful dialogue and sincere meetings aimed at securing a just and lasting peace founded on brotherhood and the common good.

"No one should threaten the existence of another country," the Pope said. "It is the duty of all states to maintain peace by fostering reconciliation and offering solutions that guarantee safety and dignity for all."
