Oilfield explosion occurrs in Iraq

An explosion occurred at the Atrush oil field in the northern part of Iraq's Dohuk province, Report informs via local press.

The field is managed by the American company HKN Energy.

Facility workers and civil defense forces are trying to extinguish the resulting fire. According to preliminary data, there are no casualties as a result of the incident.

Operations at the affected facility have been suspended until safety is ensured.
