Officials from other countries facing racist violence in France

The head of the Africa Mundus think tank based in France, Emmanuel Argo, a mayor of the French commune of Thesee, is subjected to racist attacks and death threats from his colleagues, Report informs.

Argo, who raised the issue of compensation to the people who suffered from colonialism and noted that he spoke about it in Baku, addressed an open letter to French President Emmanuel Macron regarding the racist attacks.

In July of this year, Argo participated in the event dedicated to the creation of the Baku Initiative Group.

17 civil societies and people working in the field of protecting the rights of Africans also joined the petition.

The letter stated that officials from Africa and other countries in France are subjected to discrimination and racist violence by their colleagues.

Argo emphasized that the attitude he saw was part of the double standards left over from France's colonial past. He noted that France teaches democracy lessons to other countries, but he himself has not learned those lessons well.
