The number of registered unemployed in Switzerland in March increased by more than 15,000 year-on-year, or by 17.1%, the Swiss Federal Council said, Report informs.
“According to the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), at the end of March 2024, 108,593 people were registered as unemployed in the regional employment offices, which is 3,286 people less than in the previous month. The unemployment rate for the reporting month remained unchanged at 2.4%. Unemployment increased by 15,838 people (+17.1%) compared to the corresponding month of the previous year,” the council said.
Last November, the Swiss government approved the extension of the protective status of Ukrainian refugees in the country until March 4, 2025, provided that their activity level reaches 40% by the end of 2024.
