NATO to hold major exercises to defend its eastern flank in 2024

NATO announced exercises involving tens of thousands of soldiers to practice the protection of its eastern flank, head of the alliance's military committee, Rob Bauer, said in an interview with the PAP agency, Report informs via Interfax.
"The response to a possible Russian invasion on the eastern flank will have to be worked out as part of the Steadfast Defender exercises planned for 2024," he said.
He said that about 40,000 NATO troops would take part in the exercise.
This is one of the largest events of the kind since the Cold War, the NATO spokesman emphasized.
