NATO naval exercises begin in Baltic Sea

The annual NATO Baltic Operations (BALTOPS) military exercise commenced today in the Baltic Sea, Report informs.
The exercises are attended by 14 NATO member countries, as well as Sweden and Finland, which have applied to join the North Atlantic Alliance.
In total, 45 warships, 7,000 servicemen, 75 planes and helicopters are involved in the exercises.
The exercises, which will last until June 16, will be held in different stages in the central and southern parts of the Baltic Sea, including the coasts of Sweden, Latvia, Poland and Germany.
