Moldova police detain 11 people for distributing election leaflets

The municipal police of Balti in Moldova detained 11 people for illegal activities of distributing election leaflets. The suspects include four minors, Report informs via Moldovan media.

According to a statement from law enforcement agencies, the detainees "were involved in illegal activities of distributing election leaflets in support of a candidate associated with the banned Shor political party."

In total, more than 1,400 election leaflets were seized, which, according to the police, "have visible signs of violation of the electoral code of the Republic of Moldova." It is reported that a total of 10,800 lei (about $600) and various documents were seized from the detainees.

Four minors were also among those detained.

"The Balti Police Inspectorate immediately notified the Central Election Commission of the identified violations," the law enforcement agency said in a statement.
