Merkel, Biden mull situation in Afghanistan

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has discussed with US President Joe Biden the situation in Afghanistan, as well as issues of evacuating citizens, according to the German Cabinet of Ministers, Report informs referring to TASS.
“The Chancellor and the President have agreed on further close cooperation, including between the Bundeswehr and US security forces at the Kabul airport,” the statement reads.
Merkel on Aug. 18 also called Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and thanked him for the logistical support that was provided during the evacuation of German citizens from Afghanistan. German aircraft were refueling in Tashkent.
