Magnitude-6.3 offshore earthquake occurs off far western Alaska

A magnitude-6.3 earthquake occurred south of the Andreanof Islands area of the Aleutian Islands, Alaska, at around 04:55 local time on December 21, Crisis24 said, Report informs.
The epicenter was about 107 km (66 miles) southeast of Adak. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 33 km, and moderate-to-light shaking was probably felt throughout the Andreanof Islands.
There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake; however, significant damage is unlikely. It could take several hours until authorities can conduct comprehensive damage assessments, especially in remote areas. Moderate aftershocks are likely over the coming days. The event has not prompted any tsunami advisories.
