Macron: France must prepare for war in Europe

French President Emmanuel Macron said the country needs to be ready for a high-intensity war that could return to the European continent, Report informs, citing Liberation.

Macron said during a campaign event that France's defense budget in 2025 will be 50 billion euros. Now it is more than 40 billion euros.

The President noted that France needs to be flexible in the face of new types of conflicts in space and cyberspace. Macron added that he wants to "invest in advanced technology and increase investment to be ready for a high-intensity war that could return to our continent."

The French leader also announced a doubling of the number of reservists in the armed forces and an increase in the size of the police and gendarmerie without further details.
