Lithuania invites 5 NATO countries to join Rotational Air Defense Model

Five NATO member countries have been invited by Lithuania to participate in the alliance’s rotational air defense mission, Report informs.

Defense Minister Arvydas Anusauskas made the relevant proposal to his colleagues on the sidelines of a meeting of the heads of NATO military departments in Brussels, according to the press service of the Lithuanian Defense Ministry.

The minister discussed the implementation of the Rotational NATO Air Defense Model from the eastern flank of NATO with individual colleagues as well. A. Anusauskas had separate meetings with counterparts from Greece, Spain, Norway, Finland and Germany to invite them to contribute practically.

The Rotational NATO Air Defense Model would ensure rotational deployments of Allied ground-based air defense systems and strengthened aviation capabilities and thus enhance readiness of the NATO air and missile defense capabilities.
