Kallas: EU does not need its own army

Europe needs 27 armies that are capable and can effectively work together to deter our rivals, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy told the Annual Conference of the European Defence Agency, Report informs.

“We do not need a European army. We need 27 European armies that are capable and can effectively work together to deter our rivals and defend Europe. Preferably with our allies and partners; but alone, if needed,” Kallas stressed.

According to her, an incrementalist approach to defense cannot work: “We must stop tiptoeing around.”
