Japarov: SCO Plus countries can contribute to advancing multilateralism

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov has declared the top-level SCO Plus meeting in Bishkek open, Report's Bishkek correspondent informs.

Opening the event, Japarov announced that its theme is "The United Nations as a Key Element of a Fair World Order: the Contribution of the SCO Plus States to the Formation of a Multipolar World."

He noted that amidst profound changes in the system of international relations, it is particularly important to reaffirm the central coordinating role of the UN and the shared responsibility for building a fair, sustainable, and equitable world order.

The president of Kyrgyzstan also welcomed the participation of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in the event, emphasizing the importance of joint work between the UN and the SCO in the interests of peace and stability.

According to him, the countries of the SCO Plus format possess significant political, economic, and humanitarian potential and are capable of making a tangible contribution to advancing multilateralism and fostering a more representative system of global governance.
