The Japanese government has approved the abolition of the emergency situation regime from October 1, as well as the regime of enhanced measures against coronavirus, which have been in effect in the country since the beginning of summer, Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said at a meeting of the government headquarters on measures against the spread of infection, Report informs referring to TASS.
“In our country, the number of new cases of infection is decreasing and the burden on the medical system is falling. In this regard, it was decided to cancel the emergency regime and enhanced measures upon their expiration on September 30,” the head of government said.
The emergency regime is valid until the end of September in 19 prefectures. Among them are Tokyo, neighboring Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, as well as western Osaka and Kyoto, northern Hokkaido and southern Okinawa. A softer regime of enhanced measures against COVID is applied in eight regions of the country, including Kagoshima and Kumamoto prefectures in the southwest and Fukushima in the northeast.
