Italy to adopt sixth military aid package for Ukraine

The Italian government will adopt a decree on the supply of Aspide missiles to Ukraine next week.

Report informs citing TASS that the new weapons package, which will be presented to a special parliamentary committee on security (Copasir) and is classified, will include Aspide guided missiles.

The publication also states that by the end of February a special decree will be adopted regarding the delivery of the expensive SAMP-T anti-aircraft missile system (SAM), which will not be included in the sixth package.

Due to the high cost of the missiles, the possibility of combining Italian systems with the American Patriot, the supply of which has already been announced, is being considered. Work is also underway on the scenario of replacing Patriot with SAMP-T. However, given that this system is jointly developed by Italy and France, the decision will be made jointly with Paris.
