An assassination attempt on Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has been thwarted, Mohammad Hossein Ranjbaran, an adviser to the head of the Foreign Ministry, wrote on X, Report informs.
He noted that the incident occurred several days ago in Tehran.
"If it were not for the security measures of the unknown soldiers of the homeland, perhaps a major Israeli conspiracy would have been carried out, which, thank God, failed," the diplomat wrote.
No circumstances of the assassination attempt have been disclosed.
After the start of the conflict with Israel, Abbas Araghchi held several direct telephone talks with US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff. Among other things, he stated that Tehran would not return to negotiations until Israel stopped the attacks.
