At the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi proposed the formation of a collective security forum to tackle security challenges facing the member states, Report informs via Mehr.
Addressing the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization Council of Foreign Ministers held in China on Tuesday, the top Iranian diplomat made four suggestions, one of which was the formation of a collective security body to tackle security challenges facing the member states.
According to the proposal, there are plans to establish a "Shanghai Regional Security Forum" with the participation of defense and intelligence agencies from the SCO countries.
The new body should monitor, document and coordinate responses to military aggression, acts of sabotage, state terrorism, and violations of national sovereignty of member states.
