Rahul Gandhi, leader of the opposition in India’s lower house of parliament, agreed with US President Donald Trump’s remarks about the state of the Indian economy, Report informs via Hindustan Times.
"Everyone knows about India’s dead economy except the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister. I’m glad President Trump stated this fact," he told journalists.
His comments come amid growing opposition criticism of the government’s economic policy following Trump’s decision to impose a 25% tariff on Indian imports. Trump also commented on India’s trade ties with Russia, calling the economies of both countries “dead” and saying he does not care how they cooperate.
