India to shut down schools, other institutions due to coronavirus

The Delhi government has announced more restrictions in view of the rising Omicron and Covid-19 cases in the Indian capital, Report informs referring to The Times of India.

Schools, colleges, educational institutions and coaching institutes closed. Shops and malls with non-essential services or goods will open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (GMT +5:30). under the odd-even rule. Private offices to be allowed to open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with 50 percent capacity. Restaurants will open with 50 percent capacity, but from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., while bars to be open with 50 percent capacity but from 12 noon to 10 p.m. Cinema halls, multiplexes, banquet halls and auditoriums to be closed.

Hotels will remain open but banquets and conference halls inside the hotel will remain closed. Spas, gyms, yoga institutes and entertainment parks will remain closed. Outdoor yoga is allowed. Delhi Metro will run with 50 percent seating capacity and travelling standing will not be allowed. Buses going from one state to another will run with 50 percent seating capacity, while only two passengers will be allowed to travel in auto, e-rickshaw, taxi and cycle rickshaws.

Sports complexes, stadiums and swimming pools will also be closed. Only 20 people will be allowed to attend weddings and funerals. Religious places will remain open but entry of devotees will be restricted.
