India has blocked the flow of the Indus River toward Pakistan by closing all four sluice gates that control the water flow through dams and canals.
Report informs via India's ANI News that this is the first instance of such a blockade since the signing of the Indus Waters Treaty in 1960, under which the two countries agreed to share the resource despite ongoing political conflicts.
Previously, Pakistan had declared that any attempt by India to stop or divert the flow of the Indus River would be considered an act of war.
