In Kharkiv, Azerbaijani sculptors, father and son, continue their work despite Russian shelling

Azerbaijanis — father and son, living in one of the hottest spots of the war that has been going on in Ukraine for the fourth year, not only did not leave Kharkiv, which is under shelling, but also continue their creative work in a bomb shelter.

Report's correspondent in Ukraine visited the workshop of Azerbaijani sculptors.

Katib Mammadov, the father is from Ganja. He has been living in Kharkiv for many years and is the only Azerbaijani to be awarded the title of honorary citizen of this city. Katib Mammadov is one of the famous sculptors of Ukraine and the only Azerbaijani who received the People's Artist title of this country.

He is the author of many sculptures in Ukraine and Europe, including monuments related to the history of Azerbaijan. His works dedicated to outstanding Azerbaijani figures have been installed in a number of Ukrainian cities, including Kharkiv.

The sculptor's son, Emil Mammadov, continues his father's work and is also with him in Kharkiv. Despite constant shelling, father and son continue to work in an equipped workshop, which also serves as a shelter for them.

Emil Mammadov is a graduate student at the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts.
