German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is ready to hold a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to a source in the German government, Report informs via TASS.
"For Scholz, talking to Putin is not taboo. He subordinates all this to the goal of ending the war. Scholz does not rule this out, and I want to confirm this once again," the source added.
At the same time, the government clarified that the Chancellor would be ready to contact Putin if the "right moment" comes for such a conversation, if it's necessary to send a "clear signal" or if a "specific issue" arises.
On September 9, the newspaper La Repubblica, citing its source close to the government and the Social Democratic Party of Germany, reported that Scholz is preparing his own plan for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine, a kind of new Minsk agreements.
