Germany: COVID-19 tally exceeds 190 thousand

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Germany increased by 500 over the past day, Report says, citing RIA Novosti.

According to Robert Koch Institute (RKI) for infectious diseases, 537 have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. According to the institute, Germany has recorded 190 359 cases of coronavirus infection during the whole pandemic.

Bavaria (47 867), North Rhine-Westphalia (41 218) and Baden-Württemberg (35 272) saw the largest number of positive cases.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China’s Hubei province, and the virus has spread to 213 countries and territories since then.

On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
